For more than 70 years, the Canadian Red Cross has been providing in-home community services to help individuals in Ontario live as independently as possible. The services, now expanded to Atlantic Canada, enhance people's well-being and dignity, be they frail or elderly, children at risk, people with disabilities or palliative patients. Home care services ave taken on a more significant role in Canada's health care system in recent years. Major hospital restructuring has meant shorter hospital stays for many Canadians, resulting in increased health care at home.
